The right combination of art, music and slot machine mechanics can be a potent combo. One slot grabbing players’ attention recently is Power Pig, which places the pigs in an ancient Greek setting, amps up the music to epic proportions, and offers some fresh twists in gameplay that makes the slot an absolute joy.
Along with its recent launch in casinos, it’s also now available in the free-to-play Quick Hit Slots, available both as a mobile app and to play on your computer. Let’s explore the game and at the end we’ll share how you can get started with Quick Hit Slots.
Base Game
Power Pig is a slot with a 5×3 reel set and 30 lines. There’s 10 base game symbols – 6 royal symbols and four premium symbols. There’s a mystery symbol component, where a set of spaces on the reels will be substituted with one of the pay table symbols, which can help line up line wins.
The reels also feature wild symbols, which can match with the 10 base game symbols. There are also coins. Any one coin can trigger the bonus, but if you get 5 coins, the bonus will automatically trigger.
Above the reels are three pigs. Unlike other three pot games, the structure is a bit different. The middle pig awards the bonus, and always goes off. The two flanking it, Smashin’ Bankin and Power Tower, are bonus upgrades that may go off, but don’t always do so. When they do, they enhance the main bonus.
The game also features four jackpots, which can be won during the bonus.
Free Games Bonus
There’s a single bonus here, the Free Games Bonus, triggered by the coins. You start with five free games, and three additional rows above the starting 5×3 reel set that are locked to start the bonus. All coins that landed are collected into a single coin in the middle of the reels, opening up more spaces for coins to land and grow the bonus prize.
Each spin, coins can land, in both unlocked and locked spaces on the reels. Arrows can also appear; when they do, they unlock the next space upward on that particular reel. It takes three arrows, per reel, to unlock the entire 6 space reel, so unlocking everything is a rare event.
The upgrades work as follows:
- Smashin’ Bankin will add credits to between 2-5 coins on 1-3 spins at random during the bonus.
- Power Tower will allow the addition of pig snouts. When a snout lands in an unlocked space, or an arrow unlocks it, a prize is awarded from a ladder above the reels. Each prize is bigger than the last; with only one pig snout available per reel, if you land all five, the bonus outcome will build considerably, given the fifth unlocked snout is worth 200x your bet by itself.
Coins mostly feature credit prizes, but a $-marked coin can award a jackpot prize, which can be any of the four. You can also win a double Mini, a double Minor, or a Mini and Minor together.
After the initial five spins are exhausted, you have the chance of landing an extra spin. If you do, another spin occurs, and then the process repeats until the bonus concludes. Oftentimes the bonus will conclude right when you’re close to unlocking a good coin.
