Parity is the theme of the 2026 MLB season. The worst American League team is just 5.5 games back of a wild card spot, and 11 of the 15 teams are sitting at .500 or lower. With that, every division is still up for grabs and no team has emerged as the preferred playoff juggernaut. The gap in the National League is wider, but there are still many teams staying afloat. The 12th place Reds are also just 5.5 back of a wild card spot, with the Mets, Giants, and Rockies needing to catch fire in the second half.
The schedule only intensifies from here, with teams fighting for playoff positioning until the end of the campaign. We’re breaking down Friday’s MLB action with our daily betting guide and best bets for June 26, 2026!
Arizona Diamondbacks vs Tampa Bay Rays
Spread: ARI +1.5 (-180) | TB -1.5 (+150)
Moneyline: ARI +120 | TB -140
Total: 8.5 Over (-120) | Under (+100)
The Tampa Bay Rays have closed the gap on the Yankees in the AL East. Sitting two games back, the division contenders will look to further their cause with a series-opening win versus the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.
The Rays tabbed Nick Martinez as their starting pitcher, and he’s looking to improve on a string of favorable starts. The righty has given up nine runs over his last three starts, totaling 18.1 innings. More impressively, he’s allowed just 18 baserunners over that stretch for a tidy 0.98 WHIP. Still ranking as one of the premier soft contact pitchers in the bigs, Martinez is more than capable of neutralizing the D-Backs’ offensive at the Trop.
At the same time, Arizona has been getting in its own way. The playoff hopefuls have a .380 slugging percentage over the past week, which sadly has been par for the course. The Diamondbacks sit 25th in the majors in slugging percentage this season, combining for a lackluster .386 mark. It’s unlikely we see substantive growth in that benchmark against the typically stingy Rays.
Tampa Bay has been at home since the June 17, gaining momentum with each passing game. While they split the four-game set versus the Royals, the Rays totaled 23 runs over the final three games. Expect that assault to continue, with the AL East contenders claiming victory over the D-Backs on Friday night.
Picks: Rays -140
Kansas City Royals vs Chicago White Sox
Spread: KC +1.5 (-200) | CWS -1.5 (+165)
Moneyline: KC +110 | CWS -130
Total: 8.5 Over (-105) | Under (-115)
The AL Central is always a bit of a craps shoot. While the Guardians have been one of the more consistent winners in recent years, any team is capable of rising or falling at any given moment. The Chicago White Sox are one of those teams trending upwards, with the Kansas City Royals falling well short of expectations in 2026. Nevertheless, these teams are on diverging paths over their recent schedules, leaving an edge in backing the underdog Royals.
As mentioned, KC split a four-game series with the Rays to start the week, improving its record to 5-3 since June 17. Across that stretch, we’ve seen vastly improved offensive efforts, with the Royals averaging 6.9 runs per game. More importantly, that output appears to be grounded in sustainable metrics. Kansas City has a cumulative .817 OPS, with 52 of its 129 hits going for extra bases.
We’re counting on sustained production in the series opener versus Chicago. The White Sox send a combustible David Sandlin to the mound against one of the hottest-hitting teams in the MLB. Sandline shone in his big league debut at the end of May, going on to surrender 11 earned runs across his next 7.1 innings pitched. Ranking among the bottom-tier of pitchers with a 13.5% barrel rate, we’re betting the Royals get to Sandlin.
At their current rate, the White Sox don’t have the offensive capacity to offset Sandlin’s generous approach on the mound. We’re betting they fall at home on Friday night.
Picks: Royals +110
Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres
Spread: LAD -1.5 (+125) | SD +1.5 (-150)
Moneyline: LAD -145 | SD +125
Total: 7.5 Over (-110) | Under (-110)
The Red Sox versus Yankees has captured half of the nation’s attention this weekend, with the other half focused on the Los Angeles Dodgers versus San Diego Padres. The Friars have ceded ground in the NL West of late, but are still within striking distance of the mighty Dodgers. Expect a tightly-fought contest at Petco Park.
It’s been a rough couple of starts for Roki Sasaki. The Japanese National stymied the Angels at the start of the month, getting knocked around for 10 earned runs, 11 hits, and three homers over his last two. Sadly, that’s been his usual MO outside of Dodger Stadium. Sasaki has a whopping 6.19 ERA and 1.38 WHIP, with a precipitous dip in his K/9 rate as the visitor (7.6 vs. 10.8).
Unfortunately, Sasaki’s worsening performances coincide with a tepid LA offense. Over the past two weeks, the Dodgers sit in the bottom third of the league with a .425 slugging percentage. As expected, that correlates with fewer runs per game and just three wins over their last five outings. While that would be considered a favorable stretch for some teams, it’s a marked decrease in the usual production we’ve come to expect from the Dodgers.
The Padres will be ready to deliver at home against their hated rivals. San Diego has won three in a row and four of six, combining improved run production with an unhittable pitching staff. It won’t erase the 9.0-game deficit in the NL West, but it’s a good start.
Picks: Padres +125
