We’ve talked about it being “all about timing,” so naturally players have follow-up questions about this. Here’s one specifically relating to bonuses:
If you stop a machine during a bonus is the outcome the same?
Maria Q.
It depends on the bonus, because there’s a couple of ways makers can work.
There are two types of bonuses. One, a scripted, or pre-determined bonus, has its final prize decided at the time you hit spin to make your wager and trigger the bonus. On this version, everything is window dressing to get you to the final outcome, so speeding through the bonus will not impact anything.
The other type is played out in real time, whether through a free/true pick on a picking bonus, or leveraging the RNG on free spins. In this case speeding up the spins would change the timing of the next spin in terms of what outcome is retrieved from the RNG.
But whether that would help or hurt your bonus is not known, because you only know the outcome from the decision you made (whether to let the spins ride out on their own or to speed through the bonus), not the alternative you didn’t pursue. And mathematically the odds of any spin coming out are the same, regardless of which way you go.
So in that way it’s sort of a neutral choice. It could help you, it could hurt you, you don’t really know. So instead we advise you to enjoy the bonus how you feel best! If you want to move through it fast, feel free to do so! If you want to let the money count up, that’s your choice as well. In the end it’s how you wish to enjoy a hard-earned bonus and you should opt for what’s most fun.

I think some games are pre-determined on the free spins.
Example on the Tarzan game. I play this a lot. I have gotten so many grand free games on it, and they always feel like it plays out the same.
If you get re-triggers, you will get nothing good out of them.
Anything good always comes early, you’ll get 1 good line hit with the multiplier, and that’s it. You will never get it twice. Even with 75 free spins from retriggers, your win will always come early then you will get 50+ dead spins.
Hey GamblerFan – game makers don’t clearly identify if a given bonus is predetermined, but it’s our understanding that there are games out there where predetermined free games exist, although it’s not the default choice for most companies.
i have always if it is the right time on any particular machine and your playing that machine,, at the right time it will give you a bonus,,
there is nothing you can do to better that situation
however i will say changing spin speed to to a faster time may or may not increase your chance of a bonus round,, you have to try to get a feel of the machine your playing,, but in the end it is all in the timeing
Thanks for your comment, Jacs! Timing really is the key, and of course we can’t truly know when that timing will arrive but it’s certainly exciting when it does!
