As far as up and coming studios go, 4thePlayer has been one long on our radar. Their creative games play with time tested elements while adding some new wrinkles, and 5 Flaming Dollars is a great examples of this.
The reels are stripped down to what modern players like to chase – coins and progressives – but with some fun twists that is perfect for stretching the boundaries of a slot, in the online space where such creativity is often more welcome and rewarded.
Let’s take a look at this slot and where you can play it in the U.S. with real money!
Base Game
5 Flaming Dollars features a 5×3 reel set. Each space is an independent reel, and houses cash on reels coins, progressive stars and blank spaces.
There are a couple of discrete goals. Each time a progressive symbol lands and the progressive isn’t awarded, it increments the progressive it aligns with. You need to land multiple stars on a single spin or bonus to win a progressive, with the bigger prizes needing three stars and the smaller prizes.
The idea of the multiple growing progressives is an element seen on other 4thePlayer games, and it’s nice to see a different sort of twist on it here.
Landing three or more coins awards the prizes instantly. But landing five coins (excluding the stars) triggers the Hot Respins Bonus. A counter on the upper right visualizes the coins and when you hit a Win or a Bonus.
Special Coins
There’s special coins that can also offer assistance.
- Multiplier coins will multiply the prizes when enough coins award the prizes or land a Respins Bonus.
- Persistent coins will lock in place and stick around for multiple spins, awarding random prizes. When the counter exhausts, it goes away, but in the Hot Respins Bonus it sticks around and grows every spin until the bonus concludes.
Hot Respins Bonus
Five or more coins on a single spin triggers the respins. This is a traditional hold and respin style format, where you get three spins to land another coin. Doing so resets the counter.
Filling all spaces on the board, or going three spins without landing another coin, ends the bonus and awards all prizes held. If you fill the board with coins, you win the top progressive.
This is a simple slot that gives players what they want – a great bonus, a chance at progressives, and an easy way to see what they’re winning along the way.
