As triple pot games continue to evolve, new wrinkles begin to find their way into games. Pearfiction Studios’ Cerberus Gold adds elements such as variable height reels to yield some new wrinkles in how such a game can look, and in the process liven up the proceedings nicely.
Let’s take a look at this game, and where you can play it online with real money!
Base Game
Cerberus Gold starts with a 5×3 reel set. It’s an all ways game meaning there’s at least 243 ways to win, but can increase, which we’ll get to in a moment.
There are 10 base game pay table symbols, five of which are poker symbols and five of which are premium symbols. There’s also a wild symbol to help achieve base game wins.
Additional symbols appear on the reels to help with one-off prizes and bonuses, including fireballs, a collect symbol, and three differently colored coins tied to the three wolves above, which act as the three pots.
Five jackpots are present on the game, all flat jackpots that change proportionally with the bet amount, so the odds of winning each prize is the same at each bet level. You can win those prizes during the Lock N Win bonus.
Split Symbols
A horizontal reel appears above the base reels that can increase the number of symbols on a reel to 4, 5, or 6 spaces tall. If all five reels are upgraded to 6 spaces, that would be 7,776 ways to win.
This horizontal reel spins and resets each base spin, but during the Lock & Win bonus it will upgrade reel heights, which maintain until the end of the bonus (unless they’re upgraded in height further, in which the newly upgraded height is maintained).
Collect Symbol
Fireballs appear on the reels, with values between 0.1x your bet and 100x your bet. Collect symbols are a catalyst that collect all the fireballs on the reels and award them – this is effectively your main base game feature.
A multiplier also exists when skull symbols appear, raising the multiplier to as much as 10x. When a Collect symbol appears, the multiplier is applied to the fireballs and resets back to 1x.
Lock N Win
There’s three colored coins linking to three upgrades that can trigger the Lock N Win bonus. Like other triple pot games, only one upgrade is needed to trigger the bonus, but you can get two or three upgrades in a single bonus. The three upgrades are:
- Multiplier Upgrade: When a multiplier lands on the reels it collects it and grows the multiplier value available. When new orbs land, that prize can be multiplied by the current multiplier available.
- Jackpot Upgrade: Jackpot coins land and are collected. Each jackpot has a set number of coins (2-6) that has to be collected to award the prize. Bigger prizes require more coins.
- Supreme Upgrade: This adds a collect feature when initiated. Yellow fireballs collect all red fireball prizes; purple fireballs collect all red and yellow fireball prizes.
Standard hold and spin rules apply, where if you land another orb (or other element such as a multiplier or jackpot coin), the counter resets to three spins. The bonus ends either when three spins in a row yield no further objects landing or the reels are full.
Bonus Buy
There is also the option to buy a Lock N Win bonus. You can pick from any of the seven permutations of bonus available.
The price of each bonus reflects the bet amount selected, and the bonuses with more upgrades will be more expensive, since they are expected to on average deliver more value.
