Online casinos have been quickly adding games that take wager and outcome formats in new directions, whether it be crash games or mines. Cleopatra Mines by IGT PlayDigital is a branded version of a format gaining popularity online, but with a simpler setup than others we’ve reviewed.
Here’s how it works, and where you can play it!
Base Game
Like other mines games we’ve reviewed, such as Mines Dare2Win, there’s no bonus rounds here. In the case of Cleopatra Mines, the board is always a 5×5 board as well, so you don’t get to select your board size. You still get to select how many mines are hidden in the board, though, as well as your wager.
One thing here is that, based on the number of mines you select, there is a cap on how many picks you can make. For instance, if you choose 5 mines, you can select up to 15 times, with 15 successful picks yielding a 200x win.
The stakes are such that the top win at any level isn’t more than 200-300x times your stake. So if you’re looking for something that can deliver a massive win, this isn’t your game.
Once you’ve made your selections, the picking begins. Anytime you successfully find a Sphinx Multiplier, your potential prize increases. You can stop after any pick that locates a Sphinx Multiplier and collect that prize. But if at any point you click a Scarab, your round is over and your prize is lost.
It’s up to you to decide if you want to keep picking, hoping to raise the prize, but also increasing the risk of picking a Scarab and losing the round. The next prize available is shown on the screen as you pick, letting you decide whether it’s worth playing on for a chance at the next prize, or locking in your current one.
Of course, picking a Scarab out of the game means you lose your wager with no chance to lock in a win, and the odds of that increases if you start with more Scarabs on the board.
Of course, the multiplier increases faster if there’s less Sphinx Multipliers to find, so it’s about risk and reward, and what you as the player wants to chase. Compared to slots there’s a bit more suspense per round, and each wager lasts a bit longer since you have multiple picks you can pursue each time.
