Base Game
Dragon Jin Long Jin Bao is a 5×5 reel set with 25 lines. It features poker symbols, premium symbols, green orbs (which add frames to the reels when landed, more on that in a moment), dragons featuring bigger “head” prizes and a trail of coin prizes behind it, and Wheel bonus symbols.
Like many Light & Wonder games online there’s a more granular betting structure here, allowing bets as low as 20 cents a spin. Of course the bets can go high too.
Line hits are not really where the money is here, even though there’s potential thanks to the top paying symbol paying 25x when you get five of a kind. Moreover, there’s stacked symbols, so you line stacks up and it could be healthy. But stacked symbols have a way of getting in the way of each other, further amplified by the coins serving as blockers.
Wild symbols appear on reels 2-5, and are also stacked, so they can sometimes offer some assistance, but the money is often found in the cash on reels dragons and the free games.
Fire Rings
When a green orb lands on a space, a fire ring is left behind and a three spin countdown begins. If another green orb lands within those three spins, it too leaves behind a fire ring (if on a space that doesn’t have one) and the counter resets back to 3.
Keeping the fire rings active are important because that’s how you capture the prizes on the dragon heads and coins. Dragon heads can award one of the four bonus prizes (fixed values here, not progressives, which is pretty commonplace with online games) or higher credit prizes; the coins have a very wide range but often are on the very low end of that range.
Having more than one fire ring in a particular reel can be helpful, as if a dragon and coins string land on a reel with multiple, you can collect the coins multiple times, as the coins move down and collects each coin at the bottommost fire ring.
Free Spins Feature
Three or more Wheel symbols triggers the bonus, which starts with a wheel. On the wheel is the Grand Jackpot, as well as sets of free spin counters and reel height counters. The free spin counters range from 7-50 spins, and the reel height can be 5, 6, 8 or 10 spaces high. The more spaces high, the more lines available.
Three fire rings are left behind where the Wheel bonus symbols landed, and for the duration of the free spins, fire rings do not expire, so you can continue to collect them. This also amplifies the chance to be able to collect some coins multiple times when the fire rings appear on the same reel. Between the additional lines and the locking fire rings, the bonus can really build up.
Two or more bonus symbols (now saying Free Spins) during the bonus serve as a retrigger, with 2,3,4 or 5 bonus symbols adding 3, 8, 15 or 25 free spins, respectively, to your remaining spin counter.
