AGS has been leveraging their catalog successfully in the online slot world, bringing classic games over to play online with real money. Forest Dragons is no exception, with unique properties not found often in games, even online, making it a welcome addition.
Here’s what you should know about Forest Dragons, and where you can play it with cash online.
Base Game
The Forest Dragons slot has an unusual reel set, starting at 3x4x4x4x3 with 576 ways to win, and all ways pays. Even more unusual, it pays forwards and backwards, meaning symbols can start on either side of the reels to get awarded.
Like other AGS ports, the bet structure mirrors the in casino one. This game had 88 credit bet increments in the casino and it does here too, so it’s 88 cents as a minimum bet, certainly on the high end for online slots. It also features a bet multiplier, acting like a sort of denomination, so you can multiply your bets to get higher than the traditional $8.80 max bet this slot would have in casinos.
There are 10 pay tables, six premium and four poker symbols. There’s also wilds that appear on the middle three reels, and bonus symbols which also only appear on the middle three reels. Another unique feature relates to those bonus symbols, which we’ll talk about in a moment.
With pay table symbols clumped and stacked on the reels, including the wilds on the middle three reels, combined with it paying both ways, there’s certainly some line hit opportunities on the base game, which help to keep things going until a bonus arrives.
The two progressives are converted to flat jackpots for the online version, which change by denomination, but not within a denomination, so betting higher will increase your chances to win one of them. They are mystery jackpots, awarded after any spin randomly.
Free Spins Bonus
Whenever free spins symbols appear on reels 2 and 3, the middle three reels will grow before showing you whether you got the bonus by landing at least one more on reel 4. You get 8 free spins for every way the symbols line up, as they can appear multiple times on a single reel, up to 128 free spins. In the absence of free spins, the growing reels could offer a line hit as a consolation prize.
The biggest change during the free spins is whatever the reels grew to before triggering the bonus locks, with an additional row added for every time the bonus symbols appear on reels 2 and 3 up until it reaches a height of 8 tall, which is the maximum height. Retriggers therefore remain possible. The middle reels return to their original height of four spaces tall at the conclusion of the free spins.
With the taller reel height, and wilds appearing on the middle reels, there is a stronger chance for big line hits during the bonus.
