The Hypernova Megaways slot is a game theme by Reel Play that has no shortage of fans, thanks to its broad potential for wins. The popular Megaways mechanic, combined with a respins bonus, is a robust combination that checks a lot of boxes for online slot players, and the popularity of Hypernova has led to some variations of the game being released.
Today we’ll focus on the original, a classic format with up to 117,649 ways to win across six reels (including extra reel spaces over the middle four reels) thanks to the Megaways function. Each spin each of the six reels will randomly divide into between two and seven spaces (the middle four reels will be two to six, since an extra space already exists above them to offer the potential of seven in total).
The game is an all ways pays game, meaning the symbols don’t have to appear on specific pay lines, but instead as long as they appear on successive reels, it will pay. Most symbols require the first three reels to pay, although the top symbol, diamonds, only needs two.
The game features a cascading reels element – whenever symbols line up and pay, those symbols will disappear and others will come down in their place. If another line hit results, those will pay, and more symbols will come down again, continuing this process until there are no more payouts to be had.
Jackpot Respin Bonus
Hypernova doesn’t have a traditional free spins bonus; instead it has a hold and respin bonus thanks to the play amounts on reels orbs that appear. Land six or more on any spin and you will trigger the hold and respin.
There are trophy symbols that can also contribute to this bonus trigger; the four trophies are worth 10x, 50x, 250x and 2,000x your wager when they land. The 10x and 50x prizes can come out more than once; the others can only appear once per bonus. Orbs can be between 1 and 100x your wager. A unique aspect of this bonus is the number of spots available to land orbs is dependent on the megaways reels at the time of the trigger – more spaces means more places an orb can land, awarding a prize.
When the bonus is triggered you are awarded three respins. If another orb or trophy lands, the counter resets to three spins. The bonus ends when either three spins occur without another orb landing, or all the spaces that could house an orb or trophy are filled.
