In a recent write-up, a player asked us whether the Strip or Downtown was better. We shared our thoughts about the pros and cons of each from our perspective, but thought it’d be a great question to ask players on our Flip The Switch Facebook page.
Here’s what some responded to the question:
Downtown
The closeness of casinos to each other and the better gambling conditions seem to win out among regular Flip The Switch readers:
- I prefer DTLV because I can walk from casino to casino. Too much traffic on the strip but I do like both areas for different reasons and spend a day downtown when I visit LV. I do stay on the strip hotel wise though because I’ve not found a hotel DTLV that I care for. Karen A.
- Downtown. Everything is walkable and not sprawling like the strip is. Vicki D.
- Downtown!!! Plaza, South Tower. Pop Up Pizza on the drunk walk back up to the room!! IYKYK!! Nice walk to the end of Fremont in the morning to start off the day. Then shenanigans the rest of the day. Brian R.
- I used to say Strip, but since most strip casinos have gotten rid of older machines we’ve gravitated more downtown to gamble. Jana M.
- Definitely downtown! Way better odds on machines and the casinos are nice and close. Then strip is too much for me! Marilyn D.
- Downtown all the way. I’ve seen the sights. Now I just go to Vegas to gamble. Roberta N.
The Strip
While in the minority of this particular group, there were still a couple of strip fans in the group:
- I am a strip kinda girl. too many drunks 🥴 and shady people on Fremont . I did it in my younger years. I like my space and more chill . I know boring 🤣🤣 Leeann H.
- I prefer the strip as I get more offers there. Mamata S.
Both
Some of us just can’t help but like both for different reasons:
- Both! I get room/food comps for both! So I usually start my trip downtown and end it on the strip! Based on the numbers – I win more downtown and enjoy the people watching but I also prefer the strip because I don’t feel claustrophobic like I do downtown. Noah B.
- We stay at the Strat because of our comps, but we go downtown at least 2 times during our visit. The strip has gotten so busy. Veronica V.
- Last trip we stayed both downtown and the Strip and that was perfect. Fremont can be a little…loud 😁 And the strip can be overwhelming trying to get anywhere. I like both equally. Michelle L.
