When Flip The Switch launched last year, the timing was somewhat purposeful, as we wanted to be live in time to share what we saw at the Global Gaming Expo, or G2E, which takes place annually in October.
While Flip The Switch will be on the ground offering coverage, we thought we’d start with a simple question: What exactly is G2E?
G2E is the biggest conference for the gaming industry. Lots of new games and technology are showcased, as the industry reveals what’s next for casino floors. Those who make the games show off their work, and those who buy the games, casinos, are also present to see what’s coming so they can begin to contemplate what they want to bring to their casino with the budgets they have.
In recent years, more and more social media influencers have been on site to also share what they’ve been seeing, and media also attends to report back on what’s going on in the industry.
The expo floor is accompanied by educational opportunities, with a variety of presentations scheduled throughout the week to share learned experiences and knowledge. Both Brian Christopher and Marco have been on the stage in recent years, with Brian returning to the G2E stage in 2024 with a panel around smokefree casinos.
For those of us who are impacted by how the industry is evolving, what games will be available, and so on, it’s an important event to attend, along with other industry events throughout the year like IGA. For players, it can be a tantalizing preview of what’s ahead and give us a lot of things to look forward to seeing at the casino.
When we shared that Huff N’ Even More Puff was on the way, within a few days our article was already picked up by a Vegas message board and the discussions began. (So did the daily inquiries from players on if we had seen it, and is it available yet.)
This year’s coverage will include an overview of what to expect in the coming year, as well as specific deeper dives into some topics near and dear to our hearts on the BC team.
