Do you read a pay table before trying out a slot? Most people don’t, and I’m in that bucket. So this question is relevant to my interests:
Why do you play slot machines and don’t read how to get the bonus? It’ll take a few minutes to look at the instructions and in your videos you say I don’t know what the bonus is or how to get it IN EVERY video you film almost. You’re the one making money so I just thought I’d ask the question that no one else will ask. Good Gaming!

Like most players, I like to explore new games without too much fuss, and that usually means sitting down, putting in my money, and giving it a try without reading the pay table first.
I’m kind of in the thinking that I should be able to figure out how a game works in its first few dozen spins, rather than spending time scrolling through endless pages of rules. If I did that for every new game I came across, I’d run out of time to film!
Sometimes it can be fun to attempt to figure it out without a helping hand, or to guess what the bonus trigger will be without reading the rules. Many of you also get great enjoyment in correcting me in the comments or the chat when I’m going in the wrong direction! 😂

Slots are designed with the aim of making it as clear as possible as you play without needing to read the pay table. Visual clues, audio clues, information that scrolls by on the screen as you play all are factored in to make a slot easier to understand.
When working on my first slot, Brian Christopher’s Pop’N Pays More, the team at Gaming Arts, who I worked with on the game, shared with me why the use of some familiar symbols, like royal symbols or the bars and 7s, help players understand the value of various symbols on the reels intuitively.
Of course, some slots are more complicated than others. If I’m still struggling to get it after a bit, I may take a look to answer my question.
