When it comes to gambling, there are times that you want to hit the floor by yourself and other times you want a partner in crime. In this article, I am going to share some of my favorite tips for making an outing with your gambling companion last just a little bit longer.
Free Activities
While gambling as a duo, sometimes you need to take a beat and reset your luck. One of my favorite ways to take a break is by paying a visit to Binion’s Gambling Hall to snag a free picture with the $1 million display.
Follow the signs to the Player’s Club and head towards the back. Just before you get to the desk, you’ll pass one of the best and easiest photo opportunities in town. You can take a free, now digital, picture and have it sent to your phone. It had previously been removed as a result of Covid precautions but has been brought back in its latest form.
Prior to its removal, you were able to take pictures with your group and get multiple copies printed. The property went the extra mile and even put them in fully branded photoframe sleeves. While I miss the physical copies you used to be able to get, I am happy the million dollars has made its way back on the floor!
Of course, if you aren’t gambling on Fremont Street, you’re going to need to find a different free photo opportunity to take advantage of. Bonus points if you’re able to snag a free souvenir photo like the good old Binion’s days.
Offers Galore
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it forever, always play with your player’s card so you earn offers! One of my favorite things to do is use up offers by pooling them together to create a feast or an impromptu group pull. When gambling as a duo, always make sure to swipe your player’s cards and check out what dining and food offers you may have. Be sure to activate those and any other promotions you are eligible for. Who knows, if you and your gambling companion both have free play, maybe that can be converted into a serious win you can split!
Divide and Conquer
Sometimes even when you head to the casino together, you need to divide and conquer to keep your bankroll alive. Dividing and conquering is pretty standard protocol for my husband and I when we both happen to be able to get to the casino together. I will stick to slots, holding onto a hope and a dream that one of my $5 bets will finally land. My husband takes a slower approach but with the same, if not higher level, of risk: craps. If our plan works out, sometimes it does and sometimes it really doesn’t, one of us will be able to buy the other back in and resume a nice night out together.
Group Pull
Similar to dividing and conquering, the group pull strategy is all about pooling your luck. When I am down bad, or sometimes when I am not, I will ask my gambling crew if they want to go in on a game. While the game changes each time we try our luck, we are typically looking for maxed out progressives and titles that offer a few denomination choices.
Group pulls typically allow you to not only combine your luck but the chance to increase your overall gaming budget. Of course, you can end up losing your combined money, but you could also end up with a win – it’s gambling after all!
Before you coordinate a group pull of your own, here are some things to consider:
- How many people do you have that want to play?
- What will your buy in amount be? Keep things simple by collecting the same amount of money from each person
- Set the ground rules. For example, you can play until the balance is $0 or doubled up. Alternatively, you can also agree to take a set amount of spins.
- Make sure that all participants understand how it works and how money will be distributed after the pull…. If any remains!
On my most recent trip to Vegas, for Brian’s Birthday at The Plaza Hotel & Casino, my crew had our eyes set on Dragon Link. We picked Golden Century Dragon Link because not only was the Grand maxed out at $18,888 but so was the Major at a cool $1,000. Over the course of my four day gambling adventure, the maxed out progressives proved to be pretty elusive.
