We get asked periodically how we’d handle various scenarios with a budget. Here’s one example:
You have $1,000.00 to play and want to play the 25.00 slots in high limits! There are 4 machines in there–do you play all your money in one machine only or split the money evenly?
Glenn J.
Your gambling budget is your entertainment budget, so you should do what’s fun for you. $25 a spin with $1,000 works out to potentially only 40 spins unless something happens. Dividing that across four machines would be 10 spins per machine – not necessarily a lot to make anything happen.
When Brian Christopher does $25 spins, he’ll often put $1,000 in a machine, and sometimes more. So if you’re following his lead, he’d probably put it in one machine.
But this is your budget, so if you want to try four different machines, or do half and half in two machines, that’s your call.
Spreading your money between machines vs. playing one machine won’t change the overall chances of anything happening, and one method won’t make you more likely to win than another. Some games may be designed to be tougher than others, so that can factor into it if you’re choosing multiple games, but it’s not like your odds considerably change doing a few spins vs. a few more spins.
This is similar to the fact that you can buy one lottery ticket or 10, but when the odds are millions to one, it’s still a long shot. So it’s best not to get too caught up in that line of thinking.
So we encourage you to opt for what makes the most sense for you, and most importantly have fun! Do what you think will make for an entertaining day. And you can always change your plans – if you intend to stick to one machine but aren’t enjoying it, you can still cash out and move around.
