Dragon Link is one of those slots that has captured the public’s imagination, so it stands to reason that the Million Dollar Dragon Link version has too. Here’s a question we got on the subject:
On the happy and prosperous 1 million grand, is that linked with all the other casinos all over or just there?

This is one of those rare times where no, the jackpot is banked by a single casino, and paid by the casino if it’s hit, just like most other progressives in the casino.
This is a rare thing, because casinos don’t often want to be banking jackpots that large. That tends to fall to the slot manufacturers, who will fund six and seven figure progressives that are shared across multiple casinos, usually within a state, but occasionally across multiple states, depending on things like regulations. Those are often known as wide area progressives.

Dragon Link is a special animal though – the game has remained insanely popular and the machines tend to be busy. They print money for the casinos, and that million dollar grand jackpot isn’t so difficult to bank when the machines are making the casino so much money.
Big casino properties like Yaamava, Hard Rock, Venetian, Mirage and Mohegan Sun have installed these machines to success, enough so that Aristocrat was even showcasing a $2 million dollar grand jackpot version at G2E back in October.
And those million dollar progressives are getting won – we’ve seen examples flowing from the various casinos offering them since it launched. It’s definitely one of those exciting moments when it happens!
So in this case, no, they’re not banked across multiple casinos, but are instead limited to within the bank of machines at a single casino, just like any other Dragon Link version. The Dollar Storm series has what Aristocrat calls a Multi Site Progressive, or MSP – their term for a wide area progressive, so if you’re looking for that sort of experience those would be the ones to play.

For Million Dollar Dragon Link or any other high limit progressive – Under what circumstances would a casino pay an annuity instead of the cash prize shown after verification? Also, how would I know the machine in playing would be an annuity payout?
Hi Tierra! We actually just addressed some of these questions in a recent post. The general separation is around jackpots that aren’t limited to a single casino, and therefore sponsored by a slot maker. Since the prize is being paid by the slot maker, the payout structure differs. It’s usually referenced somewhere on the machine or in the pay table.
