People that enjoy gambling are sometimes said to enjoy a good ritual or routine before they settle in to play their favorite games. For some that can look like bringing along a good luck token (Rudies Chip!) to place on the cabinet or taking a lap around the floor to check out the options.
For me, I am a creature of habit, and while my particular flavor of the day may change, I always like to have something to drink while taking a game for a spin. Because of my penchant for a “free” beverage, I often like to find a game in a section of the casino where I can see cocktail servers making their rounds. While drink service can sometimes be a hot topic for players, mainly when service is slow, there is no denying that when the timing is right and drinks are free flowing, sipping on something (alcoholic or not) elevates the gaming experience even if only by a little.
Next time you’re ordering up a drink on the floor, we rounded up some favorites for your consideration! Let us know what your “go to” drink order is in the comments and, as always, please drink and play responsibly. For a refresher on tip guidance while ordering, see our tipping article.
Frozen Drinks
When it comes to ordering alcohol on the casino floor the limitations are typically only what is stocked and what equipment the team has behind the bar when ordering. I say this because I used to love ordering up frozen drinks while playing but in more recent years, I’ve noticed a lot of casino bars have been kicking blenders to the curb. If you love piña coladas (and getting caught in a bonus), try ordering them and see what they say. Even if the server says “no,” they will more than likely list off a few others that are available to quench your thirst that you may not have thought of.
Speciality Hot Drinks
Inversely, you can also ask for hot drinks while playing your favorite games. The basics include tea, hot chocolate, and coffee but then you can ask to get a little fancier with your selection by adding in an alcohol or asking if they have any flavors, and of course, whipped cream! If you’re not sure where to start, coffee with Baileys is always in my rotation.
Heavy Hitters
Of course, like at any bar, some drinks are made stronger than others. One of those drinks is the “Adios Mother F*****.” Truth be told, I had never heard of this drink until a few years ago when I overheard someone ordering the drink while out gambling with a group. With a name like that, I had to ask more questions and learned that the blue drink packs a heavy punch and that seems to be the point! This is, in my opinion, a prettier version of a Long Island Ice Tea featuring a few different types of alcohol including vodka, rum, tequila, and gin.
Mimosa
We’ve all heard of Sunday brunch and have probably enjoyed an omelet station or two. It can be argued that one of the best parts of brunch are the mimosas which can more often than not also be ordered on the casino floor. Ordering a mimosa while doing some early morning gambling is one of my favorite activities. Not only do you get to enjoy a beverage, the floor is often pretty empty first thing in the morning which allows for easy selection and tons of space for quiet moments of relaxation and hopefully wins!
Soda & Water
If you aren’t familiar with casinos that have cocktail servers, you may not know that you can also order soda from them on the floor when drink stations are not offered. Cocktail servers can also hand out bottles of water and while I am not the type of person that can tell the difference when drinking bottled water, it is always fun when a cocktail server brings over the “fancy” bottled water when playing on the floor.
Note: If you are after a specific brand of water, like Fiji, you can try and ask for it by name. If the server tells you they only have house branded water bottles, you can try playing in the high limit room (if budget allows) and making the request again. Sometimes more expensive brands are only offered in the high limit area. You can also try showing a higher tier card if you have it, as some casinos will give high limit options to their higher tiered players.

We like early morning gambling, so a coffee and amaretto is my ideal drink.
Brian’s big on Americanos in the morning when he’s filming (and even when he’s not). We suspect there’s a lot of coffee and slots people out there!
