An unexpectedly large casino win can be a wonderful moment for players. And while some players might be tempted to put it into the entertainment budget for future trips, many don’t – those unusually large wins ultimately become goal-fulfilling or life-enhancing opportunities!
Let’s take a look at what some players shared on our Flip The Switch Facebook page as some of their accomplishments with their casino bounties (and how much those wins were).
Travel
Unexpected money can make for some amazing unexpected travel moments!
- I won $7500 at Golden Nugget over a two night session. My biggest win was $2000, and my only taxable jackpot! We were in Vegas to visit my mom and stepdad. I used some of the money to take my Daughter to the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim, CA that summer. We had three kids from Wisconsin (where we are from) all competing and winning World titles! We also went shopping as girls need to do! I used some of that to start playing poker too! And I always pay some bills when I hit big. And I will with this win too. Sue P.
- Last year was some kind of gambling fluke.. I hit over $70,000 in hand pays .. spent 80% on trips, family, fine dining, upcoming first class tickets to Europe this spring, tools, and out door kitchen appliances / island. Lots of new fine wine in our cellar. All in all lots of memories and fun from not putting it back in machines … My rule was… 20% give back to machines ,the rest bought a physical object or memory . Dianna W.
- $12,472.71 Grand that I won exactly a week ago on a lightning link at Vegas. First grand ever. Spending it on CC debt from earlier this year when my wife was laid off! The rest will be used to take the kids and wife on 2 vacations! 1 back in Vegas (for a wedding) and the other to the Outer Banks of NC! Noah B.
- $4100 from slots, $20,000 from 3 card poker. Spent it on more vacations. Kerri K.
Home Improvements… or a Home
Being able to fund upgrades to a home is a great opportunity when the win is big enough.
- $24K – furnished daughter’s appartment after she graduated college…replaced all windows in house…paid Uncle Sam. Shirley G.
- $10k in 2021, down payment on our house. Heather C.
- $3500.00 Finished my kitchen renovation Georgina C.
- $36000! Finished the basement for my son’s man cave. Took a trip to Europe – Switzerland France and Spain! Pam P.

There’s nothing wrong with paying off some bills with extra money, right?
