In a recent short video, Brian Christopher shared his advice about hosts and why it can be helpful to ask for a host to look over your play.
A player wondered:
Do you know if any level of player can ask for a casino host? I’ve always just used my offers they send in the mail.

Any level of player can go to the players club desk or the host desk (the exact location will vary by casino) to have a host look over your play or to see if you qualify for a host. The thing to keep in mind is they may decline to offer any extra benefits.
For the purposes of an individual trip, a host can offer comps if you play above your standard. One trip, I went to Atlantic City and played much harder than I would traditionally play. I called the host on duty the day I checked out and a number of my room charges were removed. Similar to what Brian noted, a host is most helpful if you play enough that such a scenario can be possible – if you’re not playing enough or long enough, there won’t be enough for them to work with.
If you consistently play at a high enough level a host may give you their card and want to assign you to them, but sometimes you may be high enough to qualify for some comps but not enough for a dedicated host, which is why asking at the desk is such an important step, particularly for mid-level players.
It’s also worth remembering that what level of play qualifies for a host will vary by property. Properties that cater to lower limit players may find a mid-level player interesting, where a high-end property won’t see value in that same player. So don’t be discouraged if a single property declines, whether on a single trip or even repeatedly across visits. You can and still should ask – the worst that happens is you’re right back where you started.
