Slot machines have all sorts of various designs, and many players don’t tend to read a slot’s rules. That means we can be surprised when certain things happen:
Have you ever seen a Major jackpot awarded randomly on Lightning Link?

Not only have we seen it happen, Brian Christopher has caught it live! Here he was playing a higher limit Dragon Link machine at Yaamava’ Casino:
Not only did he do it live, but he did it on a Lucky Chance spin too!
Some games, like Lightning Link and Dragon Link, have the ability to award its progressives randomly – that includes the Grand, although it’s an unusually rare scenario for the Grand in particular. Not every version of that line supports this feature – Dollar Storm, for instance, does not, nor does Lightning Dollar Link.

When we asked players on Brian Christopher’s YouTube page if they’d won or seen a random progressive, many had – about 7 in 10, in fact. But 31 percent had never seen one at all.
We’ve seen another example or two of Aristocrat games offering this, as well as the concept of Must Hit By progressives, which appear to go off randomly but often have a defined point (only known within the machine) it will go off, before selecting a new point when it is won and reset.
These sort of scenarios are more the exception than the rule; more often than not the game’s rules will establish the scenario that a progressive will be won, whether it be a full screen of symbols, a particular symbol dropping, a certain number of symbols (like Quick Hit symbols) appearing, and so on.
Randomly awarding the prize is a more rare occurrence, but certainly catches players’ attention when it does! And in that way it’s fun that it’s not more frequent, because it’s one of those moments that doesn’t happen often so it creates some additional excitement. It’s a bucket list item not many slot players can claim to have on their checklist!
