Many slot machines nowadays have multiple types of bonuses. These tend to be very rare unicorn events – something some players may not have even heard about, let alone seen. Today’s question approaches that topic:
If slot machines are on random number generators then why don’t you see double bonuses on any spins? For example, when playing Huff N’ More Puff, can you get 6 hats and 3 buzzsaws on one spin? Or are the slots programmed not to put that in a spin?

For the first part of your question, Pat, you sort of begin to answer yourself. For the Random Number Generator to be able to offer a bonus, the game needs to be designed to allow such a scenario to occur. And then it’s possible you may not see it just because of how exceedingly rare such a scenario could be.
So it is indeed up to the designers of the slots to decide whether such a circumstance will be possible on the games they make. Then it just comes down to the odds.

It’s not completely out of the question, given half of those polled on Brian Christopher’s YouTube channel have had one, with almost half the remainder having seen it but not had it themselves.
We definitely know it’s possible on some games. You can get three bonus symbols and the orbs or fireballs on games like Lightning Link and Ultimate Fire Link, respectively.
And yes, on Huff N’ More Puff you can actually get six hats and three buzzsaws – it’s tough, because you can’t get buzzsaws and hats on the same reel, so three of the reels would have to have buzzsaws, with the other two reels coincidentally getting six hats. That’s certainly one reason why it’s so rare – the stars have to align just right.
There are certain things on slots, like the Random Major on Lightning Link, that just are so unusually rare that most players continue to be surprised by it a decade after that game’s introduction. With the number of outcomes a slot machine having working into the millions nowadays, such unicorn events can be worked into the math and add an additional nuance to these more complex games.
So the reason you don’t see more double bonuses generally comes down to the decision by the game makers to keep the odds of these scenarios quite low, while still baking the potential in there so it can be an amazing surprise when it happens.
